A public meeting to discuss construction sequencing and anticipated impacts of this first FEMA-funded project in Filmore is tentatively scheduled for November. The Filmore North Group A construction contract has been delayed due to a contract protest. Construction is anticipated to begin this fall, though the timing remains unclear.
The estimated budget, including engineering, design, geotechnical testing and construction, planned in the entire Filmore neighborhood is approximately $67 million. This budget is likely to change pending project bids and construction costs.
Designed by Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation (PEC), the first project will include a variety of work that varies by block and includes some waterline replacements:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing them with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing them with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City will host a pre-construction public meeting to discuss anticipated construction impacts prior to the start of construction. To be added to the project contact list, and to track our progress, visit RoadWork.nola.gov.
