Currently, Durr Heavy Construction Co. crews are paving on Rue Michelle, Anson Street, Copernicus Street, Huntlee Drive, and Vivian Court.
The now $7.8M project, which is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans, will be wrapped up in 2020.
View the project map here. The type of work planned varies by block but includes the following:
- Patch Mill/Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Algiers Point
Work in Algiers Point is complete, with the exception of concrete patches, which are pending density testing, as well as street name tiles on the following blocks:
- 700 Pelican
- 300 Vallette
- 700 Vallette
- 400 Olivier
Once the proper level of density is accomplished, the concrete patches will be completed (anticipated by the end of 2019). The street name tiles will be installed near the end of the project, around 1st to 2nd quarter of 2020.
Additional Scope
After work began on this project, additional repairs were deemed necessary due to the current state of the pavement or drainage. The scope of the project was expanded to include 18 more blocks; work on the following blocks will begin once the original scope of the project has been completed in early 2020.
