The safety and health of our contract workers is of the utmost importance as we continue with infrastructure projects across the city. We are encouraging our contractors to implement the below guidelines consistent with CDC recommendations at jobsites throughout the City.

On January 19, 2021, more than 140 participants from small and large businesses learned about contracting opportunities with the City of New Orleans from senior members of the infrastructure team. The quarterly Infrastructure Industry Day was held as a teleconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public safety is our priority as we continue our infrastructure work during this trying time for our city. The wellbeing of the crews working at our job sites is also paramount, which is why we are in constant communication with our contractors to ensure that all workers are washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing on sites and furthermore, staying home if they are feeling sick in any way.

Progress continues on New Orleans’ Complete Streets projects in Algiers as part of the city’s Moving New Orleans Bikes (MNOB) program.  Construction crews completed striping on the new Wall Boulevard bikeway and the project also includes extensive roadway and sidewalk repairs.  The new 1.3-mile bikeway connects between Shirley Drive and Holiday Drive and it is part of a larger 10-mile connected bikeway network underway in Algiers.
