Durr Heavy Construction resumed work on the Village De L’est Group C project this month after a brief pause due to issues discovered during the excavation process. This month, crews began work on North Nemours Street and will remain in the area through early spring. Work on this street includes roadway excavation, water, sewer and drainage line installations, and sidewalk restoration. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2021, weather permitting.
Residents in the area will continue to be notified of work that will impact their access and / or cause disruption to their utilities. RoadworkNOLA will also notify residents in advance of any extended day or weekend work that may be necessary.
This $6.8M full-depth reconstruction project was designed by Hartman Engineering, Inc. The scope of work varies block by block but includes the following:
- Replacing damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway;
- Replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The City of New Orleans hosted a virtual community meeting via Webex in July 2020 to discuss anticipated impacts to the community. View a copy of the presentation here. For more information about this project and other upcoming work, please visit roadwork.nola.gov or call 504.658.ROAD (7623).
