ST. ROCH SOUTH GROUP B CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES ON SCHEDULE

The $3.4M St. Roch South Group B project, which broke ground in September 2020, continues the full-depth reconstruction project that was designed by HNTB Corporation and is being constructed by Durr Heavy Construction, LLC. The current focus on project is on North Dourgenois Street sewer and water line replacements. This area will continue to be under construction for the next few months. Roadway restoration began  on Industry Street will continue for the next several weeks. The project is expected to be completed in winter 2022.

DRAINAGE WORK MOVES FORWARD ON THE LAKE TERRACE AND OAKS GROUP D PROJECT

Boh Bros Construction Co., LLC crews are currently pushing an aggressive schedule to complete drainage work on the Lake Terrace and Oaks Group D project. Unrelated COX and Entergy utility relocation work stalled work on Oriole Street during the summer.  Since the utility companies have completed their work, crews are now working to install 30-inch drain lines on Oriole. Work includes. The contractor is working closely with residents to address drains on private property that could compromise the installation of the new drains.

GENTILLY RESILIENCE DISTRICT UPDATES

The Cantrell Administration continues to work with existing pump capacity by building additional storage around the city utilizing parks and vacant land, and by building innovative streetscaping to create temporary storage to hold rain during big weather events, allowing the pumps time to catch up. This approach, combined with other efficiencies to the pump system that maximize capacity and reliably provide power to the system, as well as our ongoing effort to keep litter out of the drainage system, is our immediate priority.

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure of Louisa and Piety Crossings Across Florida Avenue Canal

Beginning today, and in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers SELA Florida Ave Canal project, the road crossings of Louisa and Piety Streets over the Florida Avenue Canal will be temporarily closed for approximately six weeks to allow for a secondary inspection of the crossings.

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Traffic Modification along Sage Street, Dahlia Walk and Peoples Avenue in Edgewood Park Subdivision

Beginning Saturday, July 17, Dahlia Walk and Sage Street will operate as a one-way from Peoples to Franklin Avenues for two months as part of a neighborhood-led Complete Streets demonstration project to promote safer traffic flow in the area. Public safety is our priority; signage will be in place throughout and for the duration of the demonstration project.
